Meet Veterinary Specialists at the Parade

Members of Veterinary Specialists of Rochester and Animal Emergency Service will be at the Dachshund Parade again this year. Veterinarians and support staff will be available to answer questions you may have.

Dachshunds are known to have spinal problems, especially intervertebral disk disease (IVDD) due to extremely long spinal column and a short rib cage. Potential injury may increase when there is strain on the vertebrae from high levels of exercise, jumping or obesity. Treatment consists of combinations of limited exercise, anti-inflammatory medications and rehabilitative therapy. Serious cases may require surgery.

Veterinary Specialists of Rochester and Animal Emergency Service (VSES) is a 24-hour emergency and specialty practice. It is staffed by both emergency veterinarians and Board Certified Veterinary Specialists. Board Certified Specialists are veterinarians who have dedicated additional years of training in a very focused area of veterinary medicine. We have the following specialties at VSES: Cardiology, Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology, Radiology and Surgery.
