22nd ANNUAL PARADE
MAY 11, 2024
WASHINGTON SQUARE PARK
181 CLINTON AVE S., ROCHESTER, NY 14607

"Dachshunds only, PLEASE."

There have been discussions on this site concerning the presence of big dogs at our event. As co-chair of the coordinating committee, I want to take this opportunity to clarify what we mean when we say "Dachshunds only, PLEASE."

Over the 17 years hosting the Dachshund Parade we have observed that on the whole our dogs get along with each other, and they even accept other small dogs among them. But most of our dachshunds react negatively toward big dogs they do not know. If your big dog and your dachshund get along just fine at home, that is no guarantee that other dachshunds will accept your big dog at the parade.

We respectfully ask you either to leave your big dog at home or to restrict its presence to the perimeter of the park area where dachshunds that wish to make friends may do so.
